The Little Dimun is about 5" now, but it is slow going. At least I know it will hold me through my trip to Cleveland. Kate is right, beginning shawl pics don't really look like much!
I finally gave my brother and sister-in-law the blanket I wove for them. They loved it - my brother announced to his kids that it was "all his"! Here's an old picture of the two of us when we lived in Japan. Remember those clip on glasses that came with the doctor's kit?

Finished the Pi Shawl - finally. I need to vacuum the carpet before I block it. So pics will have to wait for tomorrow. The Little Dimun is coming along well, but very slowly. I'm flying to Cleveland next weekend, so that will give me some knitting time. I'm not sure what the current restrictions on knitting are, but I'm using a plastic circular needle, so hopefully I'll be able to take it on board.
I missed a chance to meet wendy e Thursday night - grading and computer problems got in my way. Sorry Wendy - I see you finished your socks though! She was in King of Prussia for a conference. At least I got a chance to put the name together with a voice, maybe we'll see each other in Maryland?
Speaking of Maryland, I got my catalog and promptly sent off my registration for Rita Buchanan's class. I'm assuming that they will get a large response, so it will have to go to a lottery. Wish me luck!

Well I would have finished my Pi Shawl tonight, but I need another skein to finish and I can't remember where I put the rest of the alpaca.
Spinning group today. We have our reservations for the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Or maybe I should say MDS$W as Claudia calls it! I have a personal day left and was hoping to take a class on that Friday, but they still don't have the schedule up on the web site. We also decided to have a dye day in June, and since I have the room, plus the pots and camp stove, we're going to have it here.
I never put the binding on the baby blankets for my nephew's new baby. They just got back from Kazakhstan with baby Lucas. He'll be one on Saturday, so the whole family will be going to his first birthday and welcome to the family party. Guess I'd better get hopping!

Not much to post when all you've been doing is working on shawls. I fixed the mistake in the border of the Little Dimun from Folk Shawls (make sure you check the errata page) and I'm on my way. I have about 150 stitches left to knit into the border of my Pi Shawl. This is the shawl that keeps on going...... I'm going to run outside and clean up the garden by the mailbox, then I hope to keep at it until I'm finished. The Sheep Shawl sits looking at me, but I like Kate's idea of the Peace Shawl, so maybe I'll just lemming over to that!
I also have to warp Dorothy. I'm taking her and my Louet into school on Wednesday to give a little demo for the end of the Industrial Revolution unit. I thought I'd color the draft with the colors of the levers, so the kids would be able to follow the pattern better.
This time of the year always poses such a quandary. With the little free time I have I look outside and see neglected gardens and want to go out and clean them up, but then I think of the spinning, knitting, and weaving I want to do and I want to do that. So what do I do? A little of this and a little of that, not accomplishing much, but making great plans for the summer. Unfortunately summer vacation doesn't start until Friday, June 28th.

Good news! Remember I thought a Blue Heron ate all of the fish in my pond? Well, there is one survivor. A small goldfish, about 2.5", is swimming around. My younger son spotted him and emailed me at work. Every time he went close to the pond it darted under one of the plants, but he was sure he saw it. The weather has warmed up enough that no ice was left on the pond and when I got home I was able to see it swimming around. I think I'll wait a couple of months before I get him some friends.
I'm plugging away on the border of my Pi Shawl, but not doing too much more. School is wearing me out.

Dorothy is put together. Do you want to see her? Now I just have to figure out where I can keep her! The dining room table might come to mind, however I have yet to find the top of it. It's on my list of things to do, but other things keep getting in the way.
There's been lots of quilt talk on ST lately. I spilled when I was watering my plants today and wanted to make sure no water got in the drawers. I opened one up and much to my surprise were some of the wallhanging quilts I made about ten years ago.

Baby blankets are done. The loose weave tightened up considerably after washing and drying. Here's how they look, before and after - click to see full size image.

I still didn't get Dorothy put together, but I did get a square drive bit for my cordless screwdriver. Hopefully tomorrow night.

Oh, rats. The Dorothy came today. The woman I bought it from did a great job numbering and packing everything. I downloaded the directions from the Leclerc website so I could see how everything went. Then I unpacked it and laid it out, but I don't have the right screwdriver to put it together. I have Allen wrenches, star screwdrivers, etc. but nothing with a square in the middle. Boo hoo. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to go to Home Depot!
I finished the baby blankets and I'm washing them as I type. The weave looked
pretty loose, but it started looking better as soon as I cut it off. I washed
it twice in hot water, now to pop it in the dryer.

I've had a nasty sinus infection for over a week now and it's REALLY interfering with my fiber time! I have been fiddling with the Schacht wheel and am feeling much more confident now. I've gotten the Scotch tension down, now on to the double drive.
I've also been using the Louet to spin the Brown Sheep Beast and while I'm doing that I'm mentally planning the blanket I'd like to make from it. I'm considering using Lambs Pride for warp. Any suggestions?
